Gerow: The Far-Reaching Impact of Pennsylvania Tourism

A comprehensive approach to enhancing tourism will create jobs and stimulate the economy statewide.

Tourism is big business. And it's a good business for Pennsylvania. Tourism pumps more than $38 billion into the state's economy each year and is directly responsible for more than $14 billion of the state's gross domestic product. The industry generates more than half a million jobs and nearly $4 billion in state and local tax revenue.

Gerow: Governor Race Heats Up During PA Society Weekend

In the Gilded Age the Pennsylvania Society Dinner featured smoke-filled rooms where the state’s political brokers cut deals and created tickets. Those days are gone but it’s still an opportunity for candidates to showcase their political skills and build relationships. The Pennsylvania Society weekend remains the unofficial kickoff of the gubernatorial election campaign.
